Got the plot of the new arc worked out in my head, after deciding winging it was not working. The new one I’m writing went from “Miss Lucifer” to “Ms. Lucifer, You’re Needed“. Which, if anything, is indicative of festering mental illness on my part.
Thearc is two things – 1) the last story of one of the major characters. The arc is entitled “The Rise and Fall of ***********“. And 2) showing that the main characters can have their last great moments before it all goes to shit. And it’s definitely the first arc that’s feeling the dual influences of Morrison’s Seven Soldiers and The Wire, in regards to how characters are interwoven throughout the story and storylines are paid off.

As an aside – I just saw a commercial for Heroes -
I’d like to make it clear: if you watch that show, you’re a blistering idiot. And you are probably the same people keeping superhero comics, and the comics industry in general, the way they are. Please fuck off and die.

I missed you while you were away. I saw the pilot for that Heroes show, and i’m still reeling by how popular it is. Reeling for over a year is painful, like those old v8 commercials.
oh, find sandbaggers. i’ve not found it yet, but something tells me you might know it. i’m gonna buy it, like it before i buy it, like it more after, and like it alot forever. like season five of the wire. wasn’t that the greatest thing ever? even though it’s not on yet? weren’t all those scenes with omar off the charts?

What I don’t get — what I still don’t get — is how so many reviewers say, essentially “Heroes would probably suck if it didn’t move at such a thrillingly breakneck pace”. This is where I run up against a brick wall. Every once in a while I try to watch the damn thing, but just can’t sit through it. Here’s what I heard on a recent episode. Paraphrased pretty closely:
“But I thought we should be heroes — like Dad was.”
“Being a hero is what got your father killed!”
I’ve seriously got no patience for that kind of padding. What’s the point?

Tucker – Man, and all those awesome scenes where the Bunk talked shit? SO great. Seriously though, just finished season 4 – and it is fucked up how my favorite character died.
I heard about the Sandbaggers from Greg Rucka basically saying in an interview that the first Queen and Country scene is a lift from it. Yeah, it’s gonna be pretty great.
And i missed you too! … (cough).
Plok – the breakneck pace thing is a good argument if applied to something that runs on it – any great action film or screwball comedy does – but since when is it an excuse for bad writing? It’s pretty much the decompression/compression argument in comics. Just because shit happens at a decent clip it doesn’t matter if it’s any damn good. It’s the same thing for people trained on Law and Order and Lost as it is people who read Strazynski’s Spiderman.
Berserk pacing, isn’t how I’d describe that shit anyhow. FLCL it’s not. Hell, an issue of scott lobdell x-men it’s not.
