Trying to do this story -a big climax that’s been a long time coming, as well as a kind of statement about one of the characters – I’m trying to do it justice. And that’s probably holding me up. One and half pages in, a metric ton of notes, and so far the only thing I’m happy with is someone getting stabbed in the face. Pretty much all the notes are tone- and character-based, which is weird because normally they read in a “and this happens then this happens and wouldn’t it kick ass if this happened” manner. But yeah the two threads are an oral history flashback and scenes of merciless violence intercut with each other. Plus maybe a lot of other shit that probably won’t fit.

And as awesome as the vibe is, listening to Rid of Me isn’t helping. So I’ve gone with whatever I feel like putting on the stereo. Recently it’s been Viktor Vaughn’s Venoumous Villains, Johnny Greenwood’s Bodysong, Thao Nguyen and the Get Down Stay Down, Velocity Girl, Atlas Sound, Jesu, Holy Fuck, The Mountain Goats, and weirdly M.I.A.’s “Paper Planes” a whole lot after watching the Pineapple Express trailer.
