This is a beautiful piece of writing by Matt Jones, which I found via Warren Ellis’ site.
That’s the thing about Bond that’s so bittersweet, and that every piece of modern spy fiction has to grapple with – what’s a lot scarier is those guys don’t exist. You don’t get to be killed in a spectacular fashion saving the world, you have to cope with the same world everyone else does.
