New stuff coming soon, including Emma Peel Sessions 50 which should be up before xmas. But before that, starting Monday, I am going to be contributing to the 2010 edition of annual music countdown over at The Factual Opinion. This year I’m going to be writing about albums, as Marty and Tucker were nice enough to ask me to hash it out in the war room with them and pick the rankings. I’m pretty excited about this, because for the past few years, the TFO list has been the only one I care about, even when I disagree with greatly. This year has been a surprisingly rewarding year for music, with great records actually hitting the double digits instead of being one or two and plugging the list with filler. I’ve listened to a mindboggling amount of music in the past 3 months, more than I ever would have on my own, consisting almost entirely artists I’d never heard of before Marty and Tucker pointed them out to me. It’s going to be a ton of work (so far it has been anyway) but I’d kill to do this if I were given the opportunity again (which is why I jumped on it) – taking the measure of the year by what I listened to the most, writing with people who are better writers than I am – that sounds like a field day to me. And, having seen the finalized list, you are going to be surprised. You’ve read the many lists that are dropping from blogs and music magazines alike, and you probably feel just as disappointed and intellectually insulted as I do. This list isn’t like that.
TFO 2010 in Music, lets get it on.
